Thursday brings us back to Kentucky Downs with Blue Kentucky for NBS Stable where he will try the lawn for the first time. Admittedly his pedigree does not scream turf but I have always felt that horses my Include can handle the surface as they do generally handle the off going well. The handicapping angle being that horses that like an off track also will like the turf and vice versa. Regardless Graham felt that he traveled like a turf horse and he does have a bit of a daisy cutter gait to him. His works are nothing to write home about but that has been consistent since we claimed him, he does enough in the morning but only works sharp when in company but I do not feel the need to overdue in the AM when they are not giving out purse money for the bullet.
Top to bottom it is a fairly competitive field and I do not see any true standouts in there. He steps up in class given that he has to run against olders for the first time which can always be a challenge but there should be a good pace for him to run at and likely we will let him settle and make one run at them with the long stretch at Ky Downs we have all day to get there.
