As we move on to the more traditional Churchill Downs we also move to one of my favorite tracks to race at and wager on. I have often found that the dirt plays to speed more often than not an especially so early in the week and early in the card and it tends to change over the course of the day and week to be more fair.
That said, we uncork our first runner of the meet Quick to Blame off of a disappointing effort at Saratoga at a distance that was not ideal but I thought his two turn races he was always hanging in the lane so we opted for a sprint race where they didn’t back up and the winner was actually a closer who went gate to wire, go figure. Anyway, we brought him back to Kentucky and we got him all sorted out and he comes into this race off of a sharp work at CDT last weekend. He doesn’t like to be crowded so it is nice that we drew outside and he loves the one turn mile where he can stretch his legs and find a nice even stride. A repeat performance from his first off the claim race puts him in the mix here. He starts behind and finishes on the outside in the work below
