So we have a couple youngsters taking a spin at Kentucky Downs this weekend along with Bali Kuta who was cancelled last weekend with the weather. I will discuss the two colts here today.
Graphene Cassock debuts in race 1 on Saturday. To be honest, he has had some good works and some bad works. I have attributed some of that to the tight turns at Trackside in Louisville however I would have liked to see him quicken a little better. That said, he is bred for the turf so ideally he will be better on the lawn. He does always gallop out rather well and he seems to get stronger so the mile should be in his wheelhouse. Our other baby running this weekend runs on Sunday in race two and that is Meant to be Lucky. I came out of his debut pretty high on him as he encountered a decent amount of trouble in the lane when he was getting started to roll. I never thought 5 1/2 was his distance but the way to Kentucky Downs course plays, the 6 1/2 should hit him between the eyes and speed has not seemed to be very strong of late there. I do expect he will break sharper as most seem to do in their second start. In the workout video attached, Meant to be Lucky is on the rail and Graphene Cassock id in the white blinkers.
