As we continue to trek through this marathon of a week that started at Horseshoe Indianapolis. We come back to Keeneland today following our victory in the finale on Wednesday with Aboukir Bay!
Atras is a first off the claim entry for us, we claimed him for $20k at CD where he romped and he became eligible for this starter condition he is in today. When I claimed him I had not planned to come back in a protected spot but the figure he earned and the conditions available it seemed like a logical spot. He breezed well in his lone breeze since his last start where Graham was aboard. Looking at the race, while there is a lot of horses that tend to lay close to the pace I think he is the true speed and with the draw towards the outside I think we have a good chance to go gate to wire!
Very interested to hear why you think a $150,000 purchase was risked for bottom $20K and why you felt it was worth the risk. I was afraid to risk $2 on it, but you risked $20GRAND :-)
